Following a long hiatus and a spectacular win over Jose Benavidez Jr., Jermall Carlo is back making the headlines. The Richmond area native recently visited the country of Equatorial Guinea in an attempt to connect with his roots! Late last year, his brother Jermell Charlo went toe to toe with Canelo Alvarez, and it might be his turn with the Mexican superstar.

Earlier last month, rumors of ‘The Hitman’ fighting Canelo surfaced on the internet, with Oscar De La Hoya even claiming Canelo would bulldozer through him. However, nothing has been confirmed from either side. In the meantime, the undefeated boxer updated his followers about gaining dual citizenship today on social media!

The First Lady of Equatorial Guinea welcomes Jermall Charlo to the country
Turning to Instagram, the unbeaten Charlo brother shared the news on his story! He wrote, “I traveled to Africa to meet the First Lady of Equatorial Guinea where I received my Dual Citizenship.” Alongside the caption, Charlo shared an image of himself with the First Lady of Equatorial Guinea. Donign. In a deep blue suit, Charlo can be seen shaking hands with the First Lady in what can be presumed to be her office.

Charlo’s most recent journey in boxing has been marred with several controversies, along with the slap fiasco when Caleb Plant thrashed him for invading his personal space. However, the unbeaten fighter seems to be on the path of self-discovery, as he was spotted in the capital of Equatorial Guinea meeting some orphaned kids before he shared the visit on his Instagram story!

Charlo and his wife are back together?
Before Charlo’s fight against Jose Benavidez Jr., the boxer was on the brink of divorce from his wife, Shantel Charlo, due to disagreements between the couple. However, a recent clip on X (formerly Twitter) suggested things were looking up for the high school sweethearts. On January 30, an X user shared a clip of Jermall and his wife visiting an Orphanage in Malabo.

The clip showed Charlo and his wife interacting with children present in the Orphanage.
