Jermall Charlo Responds to Mike Tyson and Stephen A. Smith’s Proposition: ‘I Wanna Whoop Their A**’

The WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo was set to take on Maciej Sulecki. However, Charlo suffered from a back injury, which delayed the main event scheduled to take place on June 18, 2022. Even though the fight is delayed, the American fighter gave a few interviews during the build-up to his fight.

During an interview with FightHype, Charlo expressed how he felt when Mike Tyson and Stephen A. Smith praised as well as spoke about the current state of boxing.

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and sports journalist Stephen A. Smith were full of praise for the 32-year-old. They also mentioned the prospect of Charlo fighting David Benavidez. Consequently, Charlo responded to them.

During the interview, Jermall Charlo stated that he would beat anyone they propose. He said, “It makes me want to whoop their [David Benavidez] a** but you know there’s nothing I can do about it.”

Although Charlo explained how it’s not up to him who he fights. Additionally, he shared what he thinks of the current state of boxing.

The 32-year-old explained how, in today’s day and age, boxers aren’t in control of the fights that are picked. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance social media plays in picking opponents. Due to social media, people like Jake Paul and Logan Paul are more famous than any boxers, according to Charlo.

Additionally, he also mentioned how Logan Paul fought Floyd Mayweather before a boxer who has been in the professional sport for years. He stated, “I mean, they know Logan, and he got a chance to fight Floyd Mayweather before someone that was supposed to fight him like you know what I mean, so it’s a different era of boxing right now.”
