Jermell Charlo Destroys Jeison Rosario With a Jab, Unifies the Belts

The much-awaited Charlo Doubleheader has ended with both brothers – Jermall Charlo and Jermell Charlo defending their titles against their respective opponents.

While ‘Big’ Charlo retained his WBC middleweight title in the first headliner, Jermell Charlo became the unified 154 pounds champion in the second headliner against Jeison Rosario. Taking on a strong opponent like Rosario, Jermell appeared slick throughout the contest.

‘Ironman’ Charlo began the fight with sheer aggression, picking up the pace as the contest progressed. However, he was also pushed to the corner multiple times. Former WBA and IBF champion, Rosario didn’t let the title slip away that easily. He constantly put pressure on Charlo and appeared promising. However, it wasn’t enough to bag a win.

Both the champion swung huge blows, aiming for a KO. That said, Charlo secured two early knockdowns in the fight to advance himself on the judge’s scorecard. However, he didn’t have to rely on the judges to become the new unified super-welterweight champion.

While he was already overpowering Jeison Rosario with some brutal shots, he sealed the victory in the eighth-round. Registering his eighteenth pro career knockout, Charlo would have possibly thought of having a long night, especially how the fight was looking like till the eighth.

To everyone’s surprise, Charlo just had to add one more jab to the body at the beginning of the round. He pulled off the shot and dropped his opponent. Although Rosario received way more brutal shots than that, he couldn’t stop himself from hitting canvas this time.

Charlo’s body shot planted him clean on the mat. As ‘Banana’ Rosario was trying to get back on his feet, the referee signaled off the fight.

It was a huge night for the Charlo twins. None of them disappointed their fans. As promised, they still have the word titles around their waist. Besides that, Jermell ‘Ironman’ Charlo added the WBA and IBF straps to the list.

That said, it was a complete treat for the boxing fans and combat sports fans.
