Unified super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo believes he can have easy work on Canelo Alvarez if they ever lock horns at 158 lbs, somewhere down the line. While WBC 160 lbs champion Jermall Charlo is also interested in facing Alvarez, Jermell Charlo’s entry has clearly intensified the scenario.

Meanwhile, Alvarez will take a trip to 175 lbs division on his next appearance and will face WBA titlist Dmitry Bivol on May 7. On bagging a potential win, Alvarez is reported to rematch Gennady Golovkin in a trilogy, only if Golovkin beats Ryota Murata on his next fight.

Therefore, Jermell Charlo doesn’t seem to be anywhere near Alvarez’s combat radar. Well, ‘IronMan’ has still envisioned himself beating Alvarez, just the way Floyd Mayweather did back in 2013.

In a chat with Brian Custer, Jermell Charlo said, “I so wish, I could be the guy to fight Canelo. Canelo bring, come to 158. I can easily make 158. And I will put a boxing lesson on him, just as great as Floyd Mayweather did, the great you know.”

Jermell Charlo primarily needs to silence his doubters as he faced a tough time with Brian Castano in July 2021. The fight which ended in a draw will happen again on May 14 as one of the biggest re-matches of recent times. Charlo’s current record stands at 34-1-1. He needs to claim a highlight reel win to demand a super fight against Canelo Alvarez.

Alvarez has left the 160 lbs to ride long back and has freshly conquered the 168 lbs division. He is now looking to impose a similar dominance at 175 lbs. So, Canelo may not come down t 158, just to fight Jermell Charlo, the current welterweight kingpin of boxing.

Akin to the Charlos, several other champions want to have a shot at the P4P king Alvarez. Meanwhile, Alvarez has already clarified his move to 175 lbs. In that case, Jermell Charlo should focus on becoming an undisputed champion at 154 lbs or he can also jump into a different weight category.

Well, his twin Jermall Charlo is already dominating the middleweight roster. Therefore, both the brothers won’t have difficulties in finding legitimate opponents. A clash against Canelo Alvarez would topple all the options. But Jermell Charlo is just one of the many options before Canelo at this point.
