Broner retired from pro-boxing in 2019 and stayed inactive with his workout regimes. However, he began training for his comeback fight in 2020 itself and tried to give his best shot. Staying away from the sport for such a long time was visible in his performance tonight as Santiago gave him a tough time in the ring, which was evident by the post-fight social media reactions.

Despite a controversial win, Broner earned massive lessons through this fight and got in some valuable in-ring time. Moving ahead, he can employ those teachings to add constant wins to his resume.
