Jermell Charlo will make his much-awaited return to the game this weekend against Brian Castano. The super-welterweight pair will fight for the undisputed championship and will look to reign supreme at 154 lbs. The winner of this showdown will also open himself to even more high-voltage encounters.

The unified champ, Charlo, is eager for the same and he’s looking at a wider picture after his Saturday night battle. Recently, at the pre-fight press conference, he spoke about battling the likes of Terence Crawford and Danny Garcia. He said, “There’s a lot of guys. Why don’t they fight each other? Let them fight each other. They gotta work their way up to the champ.”

As Crawford and Garcia have spent substantial time in the welterweight landscape, they might be heavily interested in moving up to fight at Jermell Charlo’s prime weight category. For now, though, they still might test themselves at the 147-pound roster a few more times.

Garcia and Crawford are currently unaligned to face any opponent. But they’re expected to make their returns to the squared circle this year by any means. Earlier, Crawford was all set to face Manny Pacquiao for his title defense fight, but that contest fell through.

Moving further, if Garcia and ‘Bud’ really decide to fight each other at the super-welterweight frame, their contest might prove to be an eliminator as to who’ll face Charlo.

Terence Crawford or Danny Garcia? Who can provide Jermell Charlo a tough test?

Although Crawford and Garcia are both supremely skilled technicians, ‘Bud’ certainly edges over the latter with his rich experience. That said, Crawford will undoubtedly match well with Charlo. And a fight between these two will cater to a substantial boxing audience.

But first and foremost, ‘Iron Man’ will have to prove his mettle on Saturday night against Castano. Only after that, he’ll be able to open himself up against names like Crawford or Garcia.
