The recent changes in the WBO heavyweight rankings might shatter the ongoing plans, bringing some fresh implications into the mix for the fight fans.

While many were expecting to witness Oleksandr Usyk get into the title tale between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, Joe Joyce might intervene and stand before Usyk.

Following a sensational win over Daniel Dubois, ‘Juggernaut’ is now the second-ranked WBO heavyweight contender. Standing next to Usyk, Joyce has also set his eyes on the WBO strap, which is currently in Anthony Joshua’s possession.

That said, the heavyweight division is on a rise and is turning treacherous with every passing day. However, Joyce might miss out on facing Joshua. ‘AJ’ has all the heavyweight belts except the WBC, and he can face Tyson Fury for that.

So, it’s a possibility that Joshua might vacate the WBO belt and avoid an in-ring collision with either of Usyk and Joyce. That leaves Joyce and Usyk with each other, paving the way to another blockbuster event.

However, Joshua hasn’t hinted at doing so and is still the WBO champion. But if he envisions to meet Fury over Usyk, he will have to vacate the WBO strap since ‘The Cat’ is the number one mandatory challenger for the title and Joyce is just behind him.

The Rise of Joe Joyce

Frank Warren has turned to social media to announce Joyce’s placement in the second position. ‘Juggernaut’ has taken out both his opponents via stoppage this year and is one of the most threatening contenders for the title.

While Usyk is still new to the heavyweight division, Joyce might endanger his dominance, especially when a world title is at stake.

‘Juggernaut’ also took to Twitter to add some more cheek to the tale. He posted an alluring image and alarmed all the heavyweight elites.

From Dillian Whyte, Dereck Chisora, Oleksandr Usyk to Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, Joe Joyce has set his eyes on them all. In the caption, he wrote, “Dear Santa I’ve been a very good boy this year…”

He clearly deserves all the attention right now. But competing in the heavyweight unit isn’t easy, and Joyce will have to improve constantly to retain his unblemished record.

Do you think Joe Joyce will become a world heavyweight champion soon?
