Joe Joyce just faced another roadblock on the path of a possible win over Daniel Dubois. Joyce is a former Olympian and Dubois is seemingly emerging as the young upstart.

Many have said that Joyce is possibly being fed to help further Dubois’ star. However, Joyce is not an easy fight for Dubois, even after this latest setback to Joyce’s camp.

The former Olympian will lose his trainer, Ismael Salas, for the night of his fight. Salas tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be allowed to corner Joyce.

The fight hasn’t been cancelled because Joyce has been out of camp for almost a month and hasn’t had any physical interaction with Salas. Steve Broughton and Jimmy Tibbs will form the Joyce corner for the fight.

The fight will take place this weekend over the Commonwealth, British, European, and the WBC Silver Heavyweight Championship. Both fighters are undefeated heading into the bout in their professional record.

A win for Joe Joyce ends the Dubois hype train and help him close in on another world title. Dubois winning is him putting on a showcase over the older Joyce. Either way, the winner of this fight will see a lot of doors open up for them.

Joe Joyce deals with this speedbump and pulls off a win?

It will be an uphill battle for Joyce to win this fight anyway, so the loss of his trainer shouldn’t impact him in a major way. He has already indicated that he is okay with moving on without Salas in his corner for the fight.

He has years of experience and will be looking to out-box Dubois. However, Dubois just seems like the next big star in the sport.

A win over Joyce will establish Dubois as a very legitimate threat and a contender to the established status quo in the Heavyweight division. Even though Dubois will have to work more for a genuine bid at the P4P rankings, a win over Joyce goes a long way in helping him progress to that level.

It is hard to predict who wins this battle of experience vs excitement. However, the fight is still guaranteed to impress.
