Despite Mike Tyson’s ferocious aura and an illustrious boxing career, many doubt whether he will be a challenge for Jake Paul in their upcoming fight on July 20. However, that’s not the case for Joe Rogan! The UFC commentator and popular podcaster believes Mike Tyson still has what it takes to knock Paul’s head off.

During the Joe Rogan Experience podcast with Brian Simpson, the man behind the mike in most UFC fights brought up several examples of boxing legends to explain the threat Mike Tyson poses. He specifically mentioned Bernard Hopkins and George Foreman, who both fought in their late forties, to praise Mike Tyson’s choice to fight Paul at the age of 58.

Speaking about Tyson’s upcoming fight, Simpson highlighted how many people are overlooking Tyson’s capabilities because he is old. So, Rogan suggested those people are misinformed, reminding everyone about Bernard Hopkins. “The only person that ever fought competitively after [the] age [of] 50 is Bernard Hopkins and Archie Moore,” said Rogan.

He later added, “I think Foreman captured the heavyweight title at the oldest age, which was 46 when he fought Michael Moorer. He hit him with this perfect right hand. It was crazy.” It’s worth mentioning that Foreman was 45 when he fought Moorer, capturing the WBA and IBF heavyweight titles. As Rogan focused on the point that Foreman was the oldest boxer to win a title, he emphasized that the 45-year-old boxers back then aren’t the same as today’s 45-year-olds.

Rogan claimed, “The 45 today is 45 with testosterone replacement, human growth hormone and peptides.” The UFC commentator tried to imply that Tyson will have a lot going for him because of these treatments and drugs, which means ‘Iron Mike’ will be a bigger threat than people realize. In the meantime, Jake Paul might be starting to realize he has made a big mistake by deciding to fight Mike Tyson.

There’s still some time left in the actual fight, scheduled to unfold at AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas, live exclusively on Netflix. But Paul has started to realize the severity of his decision to fight someone, who was once known as the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet.’ While appearing in his latest podcast with rapper Lil Pump, Paul expressed his feelings about fighting Tyson.

Claiming the fight is 50-50, Paul seemed adamant about being at the same level as Tyson. He said, “I’m younger, faster, sharper and can hit at the same level that he can and be able to take his punches.” However, Paul still has to face Tyson, who used to knockout his opponents with a single punch. So, Paul said, “I’m a little scared, cause it is Mike Tyson and I feel like when I look across the ring, I’m just gonna have a wow moment.”

While the world is divided on what would happen when Jake Paul enters the ring against Mike Tyson, Joe Rogan seems extremely confident about Tyson’s win. However, in Rogan’s statement, he speaks about 45, at best 50-year-old fighters. Whereas, Tyson will be 58, nearly 60, when he fights Paul, who is significantly younger, so it would be interesting to see what happens come fight night.
