Unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua may have his fair share of chances in a showdown against WBC champion Tyson Fury, but the latter’s father doesn’t believe the same. As per John Fury, Anthony Joshua cannot stand inside the ring against ‘The Gypsy King’, and he cites a lopsided outcome in favor of his son.

Many fans may disagree with the veteran trainer. Despite suffering a shocking loss against Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019, Joshua rose back to prominence by beating his Mexican adversary in the rematch. He is also an elite KO artist who has 21 knockouts from 23 fights. Thus, several pundits and fans rate him over Fury in a possible matchup.

Meanwhile, Tyson Fury is still unbeaten and has held every belt of heavyweight boxing. So, his father John Fury appears confident while billing him as “invincible.” In a recent heavyweight debate in BT Sport, John Fury stated several reasons to justify his son’s dominance over Joshua- one of them being AJ’s title loss against ‘The Destroyer’.

John Fury prefers his son Tyson Fury over Anthony Joshua any day

As per the ‘Big’ Fury, Joshua couldn’t deal with an overweight Ruiz Jr. who is also shorter than Fury, Thus he doesn’t see AJ doing anything impressive against the WBC heavyweight champion.

John Fury said, “AJ took a leaf of Tyson’s book. And you know for I am not gonna brawl him. Because I can’t stand in a pocket with him. If he can’t stand in the pocket with the man of that size, little bit over the big belly. You never gonna stand in the pocket with a 19 stone dinosaur. Are you?”

Meanwhile, the matchup is still one of the most-talked-about events in boxing. AJ has his upcoming title defense against Kubrat Pulev on December 12. If he successfully beats Pulev, a matchup against Fury is highly possible in 2021.

Tyson Fury, on the other side, will not box in 2020. Thus, he is also waiting for Joshua to finish his mandatory defense before securing a fight with all the heavyweight belts on the line.
