The thrilling super-middleweight clash between Billy Joe Saunders and Canelo Alvarez is all set to headline on Saturday. But this fight is also in jeopardy, as Saunder’s team has requested a 24 ft ring, but the final bout might take place in a 20 ft ring.
Citing that, John Ryder, the super-middleweight boxer from London, is ready to take on this opportunity if Billy Joe Saunders pulls out of this fight.

Ryder was already preparing for a potential fight in June, but he feels this is the biggest opportunity for him in his entire career.
Speaking to Boxing News, he said, “Put it this way, it’s a bit earlier than scheduled, but I’m definitely going to pack my gum shield protector just in case.
“I’m going there tomorrow regardless, what’s an extra couple of ounces for a protector and a gumshield. I’m taking my gloves and my boots, anyway.”
“What’s the saying – have gloves, will travel. That’s me,” he added.
The Alvarez vs Saunders matchup was in discussions for a long time. However, the pathway for this fight got cleared when Canelo won a thriller against Avni Yildirim in February. Moreover, this is a massive title unification fight that’ll land up the winner for an undisputed super-middleweight fight later. Also, it has all the ingredients to go down as one of the best battles at the super-middleweight roster.
Although John Ryder is flying to Dallas for this bout, his chances of competing against Canelo seem to be pretty slim, as there has been no official confirmation from Matchroom sports pertaining to the cancellation of this bout.
