Deontay Wilder might have faced an injury before his nail-biting rematch against Tyson Fury in February. However, not everyone is ready to believe that. At least, not the former British boxer, Johnny Nelson.

A few days ago, Wilder’s sparring partner Junior Fa claimed that ‘The Bronze Bomber’ had injured his bicep in a training session. That said, Fa justified Wilder’s defeat with the particular incident. Yet it might not be convincing for every boxing fan, especially after Fury manhandled Wilder to claim the WBC heavyweight title.

Johnny Nelson opens up on Deontay Wilder injury claims
Wilder is yet to validate the statement. Speaking about his reported bicep injury, the Alabaman native hasn’t confirmed it. But it was his sparring partner, Junior Fa, who made such claims to Sky Sports.
Now, Johnny Nelson does not agree with the notion. Speaking with IFL TV, he seemingly mocked ‘The Bronze Bomber’ by referring to his excuses from the past, including the overweighted walkout costume.

“Listen Deontay hasn’t said it. I suppose it is the cynic in you would make you think that these people are planning around to say what they are saying if you listen. If Deontay was injured, he was injured. If that’s what he wants the people to believe, which he thinks will justify his performance,” said Nelson.
“If you ask my personal opinion then, that’s something different. But if that’s the story he wants to give everybody, and that’s the story he wants people to believe, apart from his costume weighing 40 pounds, I get it.”

The Bronze Bomber’s first loss was harsh
Deontay Wilder suffered a crushing defeat as Fury beat him down badly in the rematch. From the very beginning. ‘The Gypsy King’ seemed to have decoded Wilder’s game plan.
After securing two early knockdowns, ‘The Gypsy King’ stopped Wilder in round seven. It was a bit hard to digest that the knockout specialist got knocked out himself. Now, the trilogy contest between them will be Wilder’s only opportunity to avenge his loss.
