There is no denying that the heavyweight division is currently dominated by the daunting, and undefeated, duo, namely ‘The Cat’ Oleksandr Usyk and the eccentric ‘Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury. With the former being the formidable unified heavyweight champion and the latter the iconic face of the division.
Boxing aficionados have often pondered how the duo will fare against each other. And it looks like they wouldn’t have to wait long, as the talks for an undisputed championship showdown are abuzz. In fact, Fury was recently seen fanning these flames, after he took to social media to call out Usyk.
Fury’s last tango in the ring was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on December 3, 2022. He defended his WBC heavyweight title against Derek Chisora, winning the bout via 10th-round TKO. Meanwhile, on August 20, 2022, Usyk retained his throne as the unified champion, with an explosive rematch against Anthony Joshua.
