Boxing fans have witnessed some stupendous knockouts and RTD finishes across all weight classes in 2021. That said, the sport of boxing has only gotten elevated this year due to some pugilists’ sensational performances. Jose Zepeda was one such boxer who put in a virtuoso performance. And thrilled the fans with his win.

The WBC silver super-lightweight champion collided with Josue Vargas for his title defense. Zepeda was a hands-down favorite to win this fight, but no one expected him to conclude the bout in such an enigmatic fashion.

In round 1 itself, he showed his intent by going toe to toe with Vargas. Later, Zepeda threw a jab to cut the gap, and eventually, he landed a blistering left hand which put Vargas on the canvas.

With that hit, ‘The Prodigy’ went onto the canvas and he seemed unconscious for a while. But that was the opening Zepeda needed, and he capitalized on the same later.

Taking Vargas into the corner, ‘Chon’ landed a barrage of punches. The referee immediately stepped in to stop the fight then and there because the challenger was already stunned by that vicious knockdown.

Zepeda, in this contest, showed his aggressive fight skills once again. That said, he isn’t a one-dimensional fighter who will be clueless should his opponent have a good chin.

In this fight, he was pretty clear about going for the kill and pressing his opponent as much as he could. He succeeded in the same and defended his WBC silver belt for the second time.
