Joseph Parker Explains How Tyson Fury Is Helping Him Train for Derek Chisora

Former heavyweight champion Joseph Parker is on a mission to regain his world title. The New Zealander is one of the many contenders in the heavyweight division who is on the cusp of challenging for the belts. And ahead of this important contest against Derek Chisora, Parker has roped in Tyson Fury’s help.

The 29-year-old Kiwi boxer will face British challenger Derek Chisora on May 1. This will be another step forward for the former WBO champion. And given the significance of the fight, Parker, who is training with the world champion, Fury, has revealed how ‘The Gypsy King’ has helped him.

The 28-2 boxer spoke to Pro Boxing Fans on YouTube and shed light on ‘The Gypsy King’s assistance. He said, “Tyson’s opened up everything for us, you know. The gym… he’s given us the opportunity, you know. I’m with Andy here and we’re staying in one of the houses that he’s got ready for us.”

This comment came since Parker has started training with Andy Lee after the WBC champion introduced them. In addition, the pair have linked up during their respective camps and have shown they have a good relationship.

In addition, this comment showed Fury’s willingness to help his fellow fighters train during these tough times.

Joseph Parker reveals the advice Tyson Fury gave him

The Kiwi goes into the Chisora fight with a lot to prove. Victory over the Brit would put Parker right back in the title mix. Moreover, it would send a stern message to the division brimming with talented contenders.

However, with so much riding on the fight, Tyson Fury’s presence in his camp will be a massive boost. In addition, Fury has faced and beaten Chisora twice, and therefore, his advice could be vital to Parker. The New Zealander revealed what counsel ‘The Gypsy King’ gave him.

“So he’s pretty much just said, ‘Hey, here to help you to, you know, do your best and see what you can do in the division, you know, you have to beat yourself otherwise everything will be, it’ll be a question mark how your career will end up, if you don’t win,’” said Parker. 

Therefore, this comment showed Fury’s genuine support for Parker. It also explained why the Brit has helped Parker.
