A piece of shocking news paved in for the boxing fraternity when a staggering announcement regarding Josh Taylor went viral on the internet. The fans were shocked when the undisputed super lightweight champion was stripped off of his WBA super lightweight title. 

Taylor became the undisputed super lightweight champion after defeating Jose Ramirez in 2021. Moreover, he defended his titles against Jack Catterall, which he won via a decision. 

A few months after his recent title defense, The World Boxing Association snatched away his title.

What could be the reason to sack the WBA super-lightweight belt from Josh Taylor?

According to the reports by Mirror, the World Boxing Association asked Taylor to defend his titles against Alberto Puello. Subsequently, in Taylor’s denial, the World Boxing Association decided to vacate his title. 

On the other hand, ‘The Tartan Tornado’ has some different explanations for the sacking of his WBA title.

After he handed over his WBA title, Taylor went on the internet to explain his reason. He tweeted, “FYI, I vacated it the belt I want stripped 😊😊👍🏼”

Similarly, Taylor responded to Dan Rafael’s tweet in which Rafael mentioned Taylor’s reason for his title loss, which went viral on the internet.

Taylor replied, “No Dan, o spoke with them a couple of weeks ago ands Told them I’m a vacating it 👍🏼”

Taylor cleared that there was no influence of any other party on his decision to hand over the WBA belt. Therefore, he approached the governing body of the World Boxing Association and vacated his title. 

Well, the real reason is still undefined whether Taylor voluntarily handed over his title or the governing body of the WBA insisted on him for the same.
