Josh Taylor vs Jose Ramirez Confirmed: Date, Venue Revealed

It’s 2021, and boxing fans can finally see some fights coming their way. The saga might begin with 140 lbs undisputed clash between Jose Ramirez and Josh Taylor, which will happen in May with a live audience in attendance.

Ramirez, 26-0, boasts of the WBC and WBO super-lightweight titles. Meanwhile, Taylor, 17-0, has the WBA and IBF world titles. So, it’s time to unify the division by bringing all 4 belts under one roof.

iFL TV’s Umar reports the fight to be a done deal as he spoke with Top Rank CEO Bob Arum to get an update on the fight.  While Taylor was looking for the fight after his KO over Apinun Khongsong, he can actually fight Jose Ramirez in Las Vegas.

According to reports, Ramirez vs Taylor will have 10,000 people in attendance and the event will be held at the MGM Grand, the mecca of combat sports.

Top Rank has already chalked up some big fights to happen this year, including a heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. That said, Ramirez vs Taylor is another such fight that can send the fans into a frenzy.

Josh Taylor vs Jose Ramirez- What can we expect?

The undefeated World Champions will put their titles and clean records at stake against each other. Ramirez, the orthodox puncher, will have an advantage of 6 cm reach against the southpaw in Taylor. Both the champions are also elite knockout artists. Taylor has a KO ratio of  76.47% with 13 Knockouts in 17 wins. In contrast, Ramirez has  17  knockouts in 26 wins with a KO ratio of 65.38%.

Excluding all the stats, Taylor vs Ramirez is also a fan-favorite contest. It’s a fight that has been brewing for years and when it happens, it can determine the future for both the pugilists. There’s also a possibility of Taylor facing the 135 lbs boxers as many have desired to make a move to 140. Teofimo Lopez is one of them and the future of the super lightweight division looks promising.
