Last year, Juan Francisco Estrada and Roman Gonzalez engaged in one of the most thrilling boxing bouts of all time. They enthralled the fans for 12 rounds and gave their absolute best till the last gong. In the end, it was Estrada who triumphed over Gonzalez and avenged his 2012 loss.

Now, after two high-voltage bouts, Gonzalez and Estrada are once again in contention to face each other. A trilogy between the two men is set to go on floors on March 5 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego. In this fight, Estrada will defend his WBA (Super) super-flyweight title.

Mike Coppinger was the first to report this on his official Twitter handle.

In 2021, ‘Chocolatito’ and the Mexican boxing star collided for the WBA and WBC super-flyweight titles. Both the men seemed eager to dictate the pace of the fight. Gonzalez pressed his rival and landed his best shots.

However, ‘El Gallo’ responded well with some exuberant counterattacks and intense right hooks to the body and head. Shifting the gears, Gonzalez made spontaneous adjustments to keep Estrada on his toes. As a result, the tussle only turned aggressive in the final rounds.

‘Chocolatito’ seemed to have an edge in the fight, but Estrada earned a split decision victory (117-111, 115-113, and 113-115). As they are tied at 1-1, their trilogy will truly determine who among them is the actual super-flyweight star.

Juan Francisco Estrada vs Roman Gonzalez 3 – The final chapter

It’ll be interesting to see if the duo goes for the kill this time to avoid any decision-related controversies. If they do so, fans might get to see an action-packed bout between two absolute stars.
