Katie Taylor took her professional record to 20-0. Although the performance was far from her best, the Irish boxer did enough to secure the win and hold on to her WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO, and Ring Magazine belts.

‘The Bray Bomber’ started off the first round, trying to establish her jab. Meanwhile, Sharipova looked to destroy her rhythm. From the onset of the fight, it was very clear that Taylor was much faster than her Kazakh opponent.

In the third round, Taylor’s corner asked her to pick up the pace, and that’s exactly what she did. She threw a few combinations and connected well with Sharipova. The champion closed the distance, moving in and out of Sharipova’s range.

Throughout the fight, the undisputed champion of the world provided glimpses of her class. Unfortunately, she was unable to show her usual dominant style. Instead, Taylor let the fight drag on for all ten rounds as she outboxed her opponent.

Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano – Will we finally get to see this mega showdown?

In May 2020, a mega showdown between Taylor and Serrano was in the works. ‘The Bray Bomber’ looked to take on the unified world featherweight champion Amanda Serrano, who has held nine world titles across seven different weight classes.

Unfortunately, the pandemic forced promoters to postpone the fight, after which, efforts to rearrange the contest for later that year failed again due to contract problems. Now, the time is ripe as Serrano and Taylor are fighting quite close to each other.
