Former WBA champion Keith Thurman is interested in fighting the WBC and IBF titleholder Errol Spence Jr. on his return to action. After suffering the first setback of his career against Manny Pacquiao in 2019, Thurman remained inactive for over a year.

However, he seems ready to lace up the gloves and has tagged his possible matchup against Errol Spence Jr. as the biggest showdown of the welterweight division. That said, many fans might want to see a fight between WBO champion Terence Crawford and Spence Jr. in a title unification battle.

However, Crawford and Spence Jr. are far from meeting each other in-ring, and looking at the scenario, Thurman has offered himself against ‘The Truth’. In interaction with the Pro Boxing Fans, he opened up on his upcoming plans, citing a major title shot for himself ahead.

“I think we have waited long enough, I really would like to make that fight happen as soon as possible. The whole goal after the Pacquaio fight was to go after Spence, anyway. That was going to be the next big major fight. So, I still think it’s a terrific, huge fight in the welterweight division. He (Errol Spence Jr.) has fought a lot of my competitions. But he hasn’t fought me yet,” said Thurman.

He added, “So, what kind of statement is he really trying to make in the welterweight division? He (Errol Spence Jr.) is a great champion, but I do think that when we clash, it will be one of the biggest clashes in the welterweight division. I would be happy to make this happen this year.”
