Terence Crawford put on a dominant display against Shawn Porter. On Saturday night, Crawford put the boxing world on notice, showing the world why he is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters right now. Immediately after, he took the mic and called out his next opponent- Errol Spence Jr. However, another elite welterweight has now put his foot forward to fight Crawford.

Former world champion Keith Thurman is looking to make a comeback to the ring after over 2 years. However, he has demanded eight months for a title shot against Crawford. Thurman told The Athletic, “I’m going to be getting back in the ring shortly, I’d be more than happy, more than willing, to step in the ring with Bud Crawford next summer. I’m willing to fight Crawford eight months from now, approximately. I would love to fight.”

However, Crawford‘s team may not be willing to fight Thurman. Especially since he is just returning from such a long layoff.

It makes no sense for Thurman to immediately get a title shot after two years of inactivity. Although ‘One Time’ was the number one welterweight in the division from 2016 to 2018, injuries, inactivity, and weight issues have slowed down his promising career. After over two years of inactivity, fans are unsure if Thurman will be able to reach his peak again.
