Rising star Keyshawn Davis has somehow found his place in a lightweight division that is severely crowded at the moment. The undefeated star, with 11 straight wins since his debut, has shown potential to become a star of the future. His fight against Gustavo Lemos on November 8 in his hometown has the potential to launch him into stardom.

But rather than focusing on the Lemos fight, Davis has been constantly trash-talking with other fighters in the lightweight division for the past few weeks now. On Friday, ‘The Businessman’ once again called out Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Vasyl Lomachenko and also termed himself ready for the championship gold.

Keyshawn Davis puts the Lightweight division on notice

In an interview with Sky Sports, The Norfolk native called out the WBA and the IBF lightweight champion. Upon being asked whether he is ready for such high stake bouts, Davis promptly replied, “Are they ready for me?” The 11-0 boxer further claimed that he is ready to fight both Tank and Lomachenko if they send him a contract. “If they are ready to fight me, if they’re willing to fight me, I will sign up. They can send me a contract and I’ll sign it,” stated Davis.

According to the 25-year-old, he deserves a title opportunity and put out a condition to face either one out of Gervonta Davis and Vasyl Lomachenko. He stated, ” All I need is a world title,” and will fight only go down with gold on the line.

‘The Businessman’ further stated that he doesn’t really care what’s in front of him, claiming that “A belt is a belt.” Davis further stated that he would become a superstar in boxing no matter what. ” I don’t need a specific name for me to become who I need to be. All I need is a world title and we’re going to take it to the next level after that,” claimed the 2020 Summer Games silver medalist.

While Keyshawn Davis has issued an open challenge to the WBA and IBF lightweight king, he does not want to fight his close friend and WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson. Davis also explained that people severely misunderstand the Newark native and his boxing style.

Shakur Stevenson is not boring

In a recent interview with ESPN+, Davis stated that Shakur Stevenson’s fighting style is similar to his own and is always hungry for a good scrap. “I know Shakur have that same mentality [as me], he’ll fight anybody. You see him call out everybody and you’ve got to realize why fighters are saying no to fight him,” stated the 25-year-old.

For the unversed, Stevenson is a former Olympic bronze medalist and has won world titles in three weight classes. But due to his defensive style, many fans and experts have termed him as a ‘boring’ fighter. Davis acknowledged those remarks and how it is a lame excuse to avoid him as “he’s got the highest ratings on ESPN.”

According to Keyshawn Davis, the boring remarks did not come from any boxers. Rather, the fans and trollers started it and “then everyone started getting behind it.” He further claimed that everyone avoiding Stevenson are just scared of the WBC lightweight champion and “what Shakur can do to them.”

These comments have almost shut down any possibility of a match between these two friends. On the other hand, fans are still waiting for a reply from either Gervonta Davis or Vasyl Lomachenko, which will determine whether these two are looking at Keyshawn Davis as a credible threat yet or not.
