Legacy Fight: Shawn Porter Says He Has Not Given up on Terence Crawford Bout

Former welterweight champion Shawn Porter has expressed his interest in fighting the champion Terence Crawford. However, this is not the only time he showcased his curiosity to take on the champion. More than any title or fame, he wants the Crawford bout for his legacy.
In an interview with SiriusXM Boxing, Porter shed some light on Terence Crawford and his probable magnetic clash.
Speaking to them, he said, ”It’s Terence Crawford… I’ve not given up on that fight. I’ve had conversations with my dad, ‘Go get that fight, that’s the fight for me.’ So my dad’s working.”

Porter has kept an active run in the sport past few years and he’s optimistic about bagging this fight soon.

Porter even asserted that his father is also on the same page as him. Both are equally thrilled to stage a fight with the undefeated WBO champion.
‘Showtime’ last stepped inside the ring in August 2020. He defeated Sebastian Formella with a unanimous decision to keep his supreme run active. Porter held the IBF and WBC welterweight titles until 2019. He lost both his straps to the current champion Errol Spence Jr.
The 33-year-old doesn’t dwell on his failures much and moves on to his next target quickly. He now wants to touch the 147-pound throne again by competing against the sturdy Terence Crawford.

‘Showtime’ now ranks as the fourth ranked welterweight fighter in the world. He is extremely pumped to pile on to the pinnacle with constant wins. Porter has kept an active run in the division up till now, and he shows no signs of slowing down. He feels ready to take a shot at the title yet again.
His call-out to Crawford might just land him up for a fight with the latter, as both of them aren’t lined up for any fights for now.
