These biggies hold the capability to send chills down the spine for every boxing enthusiast with their luring voices. That said, fans often look for these big names at every boxing event, to hear their favorite fighters’ names in their gruff voices. However, something terrifying happened to a legendary boxing announcer recently.

David Diamante, one elite ring announcer, met with an accident, thus ending up with some serious injuries.

Diamante was riding his motorcycle on Third Avenue in Brooklyn below the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. Here, he abruptly met with an accident and was later taken to NYU Langone Health. His condition wasn’t too well as he succumbed to brutal injuries like three fractures to the spine, broken ribs, and damage to the right knee.

Post that, he went ahead for a five-hour surgery wherein nine screws, rods, and cadaver parts were inserted in his spine.

In an interview later, he said, “It’s going to be a tough road. It’s a bad injury and getting better will take some time. This will be a struggle. I’ll have to learn to walk again, and right now there’s a risk of complications. But I have a positive attitude and will be back as soon as possible.” (h/t Boxing Scene)

Diamante last appeared for the recent Chisora vs Parker fight. Nobody would have expected the iconic announcer to get into such a vulnerable spot after putting his best in this solid boxing event.
