Lennox Lewis was one of the most ferocious heavyweights of the retro boxing era. Lewis presented his best self every time he stepped in the ring, and this is predominantly why he’s still cited among the legendary heavyweights. The Brit retired in 2003 and stayed out of the limelight since then.

But, as many boxers take up something post-retirement to keep themselves entertained, it seems the ‘Lion’ too has found his source of entertainment. Lewis recently developed a massive interest in the technical and tactical sport, chess, and is glued to his mobile phone for the same.

The former heavyweight champ plays it four times a day and dispatches his opponents here as well. As per The Sun, a source said, “He takes it very seriously and would love to get to grandmaster level.”

Lennox Lewis enjoyed the most exemplary career in boxing. He touched gloves with almost every big heavyweight star back then and even won a huge chunk of those bouts. The ‘Lion’ not only possessed cracking knockout power, but he also implemented the slickest game-plans to counter his opponents.

After retiring from the sport, Lewis never thought of lacing up the boxing gloves again as he turned into a family man. Now, since he’s developed a new interest in a new sport, it seems the 55-year-old is relishing his time even better than before.

Can Lennox Lewis enjoy a similar time like boxing in chess?

Lewis was the most focused and disciplined heavyweight. With his staggering work ethic, the ‘Lion’ achieved enormous accolades in his career. Now that he’s transitioned his attention from boxing to chess, needless to say, Lewis has what it takes to embark on a cracking run here as well.

Apart from this, Lennox Lewis keeps himself super-active and fit with grilling workout routines. Despite leaving the sport, he has not let boxing leave his daily lifestyle.

Given the physical chess matches he engaged in within the ropes, the literal chess matches across 64 squares should prove to be a transition that fans would back ‘The Lion’ to succeed in.
