After his prediction, fans expected the 33-year-old to control and pick his punches to try to outbox Davis. However, Santa Cruz came in to fight and traded with Davis. Whether that was the game-plan or he just got dragged into it, we can’t say for sure. What is certain is that he surprised fans and maybe even Gervonta Davis with his approach.

What is next for Leo Santa Cruz?
Santa Cruz moved up to prove a point. He may not have gotten the victory, but he could cut it with the others at this weight. Despite this, it is still difficult to see him beating any of the top fighters in this division. Maybe he will consider going back down where he could be more comfortable.

It is a curious case for fans. He just put himself on the global stage with this fight and has surely earned a lot more fans from the fight. However, at 33-year-old he is no longer getting younger, so adapting to a new weight group might not be the best thing for him.
