Leo Santa Cruz reacted to his loss against Gervonta Davis on his Twitter. The former multi-weight world champion lost after a vicious left upper-cut from Davis knocked him out.

Despite this, Santa Cruz has earned a lot of respect from fans across the world. He was the one who stepped up to fight Davis. After the fight, Santa Cruz took to Twitter to share his response on how the fight unfolded.

Santa Cruz, after his first knockout loss, said, “We didn’t get the win, but I’m okay. Tough fight and congrats to @Gervontaa on his victory. Thanks to the fans for all their support for me and my family. #TeamSantaCruz”. And the veteran Mexican has a lot to be proud of. In the first few rounds of the fight, Santa Cruz was arguably the better fighter.

After his prediction, fans expected the 33-year-old to control and pick his punches to try to outbox Davis. However, Santa Cruz came in to fight and traded with Davis. Whether that was the game-plan or he just got dragged into it, we can’t say for sure. What is certain is that he surprised fans and maybe even Gervonta Davis with his approach.

What is next for Leo Santa Cruz?

Santa Cruz moved up to prove a point. He may not have gotten the victory, but he could cut it with the others at this weight. Despite this, it is still difficult to see him beating any of the top fighters in this division. Maybe he will consider going back down where he could be more comfortable.

It is a curious case for fans. He just put himself on the global stage with this fight and has surely earned a lot more fans from the fight. However, at 33-year-old he is no longer getting younger, so adapting to a new weight group might not be the best thing for him.

Either way, as fans, will look forward to seeing Leo Santa Cruz back in the ring again. After one hell of a performance, he surely has more of it to offer.
