Appearing on the Implausive podcast, former One Direction star Liam Payne shared his thoughts on potentially competing inside the boxing ring in the future. Furthermore, he revealed he is a big fan of boxing and is very keen to compete inside the ring. Considering the recent trend of YouTube sensations turning into boxers, this wouldn’t be completely out of bounds.

Liam Payne wants to feel ‘Gladiatorial’

The 28-year-old singer had this say about when he was asked by co-host Mike Majlak about his desire to enter combat sports, “If there is a chance for me to jump in the boxing ring and have a go to see what that feels like to be Gladiatorial in the 21st Century I’m in like lets do it”

It seemed Logan Paul could relate to this as he said,” It’s the coolest thing ever”. Payne then spoke about his love for boxing and suggested that Paul knows what it feels like to be in the ring.

Payne shares Jiu-jitsu story

The singer also spoke about his love for other combat sports especially Jujitsu, “Jujitsu I love as a sport just because its so concentrated there’s so many things and there’s a sensitivity of going in and fighting jiujitsu and it also made me change my judgement on anyone I would even like try to fight with.

Payne then comments about his Jiu-jitsu trainer,“They don’t like questions because they are the gods at what they do”

Furthermore, he elaborated on a story about his trainer, while his trainer was explaining a move and a student asked him a question, “he goes what about if I did this and Maurizio just goes show me, brings him the front and he did this whole thing, the guy tried to do what he did and then the guy just got wrapped up.” 

He says that since then he has asked no questions,” and this room was full of 80 people and me and him were like poor f***er,  I’ve never asked Maurizio a question since funnily enough.

Paul then commented on Payne’s toughness, saying that Payne has never tapped out. Payne then says that he would rather go out than to tap out.
