Will it be David Benavidez? Will it be Jermall Charlo? Or will it be Jaime Munguia? These are questions plaguing the boxing community since ‘Cinnamon’ schooled Jermell Charlo. Canelo Alvarez has a stable full of fine boxers to choose from! However, few names shine brighter than others, Munguia being one of them. So, Oscar De La Hoya, Munguia’s promoter, sheds light on the potential fight between Canelo and Munguia.
However, Munguia isn’t the only contender vying for all of Canelo’s titles and, of course, the money that comes along with it. For the longest time, David Benavidez has been the top contender for Canelo, further solidified by Benavidez’s win over Demetrius Andrade. Yet, the momentum is favoring Munguia, as Oscar De La Hoya speaks about the potential clash.

Oscar De La Hoya claims Canelo Alvarez does what he wants
While appearing in a recent interview with ES News, ‘Golden Boy’ suggested the next opponent to fight Canelo depends upon Canelo himself. “It all depends on Canelo, like Canelo said, in his own words, that he is the king. He does whatever he wants to do,” said De La Hoya. He went on to claim that Jamie Mungia wants to give the boxing world an all-Mexican fight.
Oscar also added that it would be an elite-level fight like some of the legendary bouts in the history of boxing between two Mexicans. “All Jaime Munguia wants to give the fans is an all-Mexican showdown. And like I said, we haven’t seen that showdown in years, at that level, at the elite level. Like Barrera-Moralis and I keep mentioning Julio Cesar Chavez and Sergio Martinez,” said De La Hoya. While Oscar is speculating a fight between Munguia and Canelo, Mungia is getting ready for a fight with John Ryder.
