Eddie Hearn is one of the leading promoters in the boxing world. The Englishman is infamous for being a shrewd negotiator. He always gets the best deals for his fighters, especially the big-name boxers in his stable.

However, things don’t always go as per plan in a sport like boxing. Often fighters do not deliver after heaps of hype building around them. Hearn experienced this to a great extent in the past year, with four of his top-draw fighters losing.

1. Dillian Whyte: The first on the list is heavyweight boxer, Dillian Whyte. The ‘Body Snatcher’ has been one of Hearn’s biggest fighters for the past few years, thanks to his rise to the top. However, things took a step back when he lost to Alexander Povetkin last year.

The Londoner dominated the Russian for the first four rounds and even scored a couple of knockdowns. A win against Povetkin would have put Whyte back in the reckoning for the world title. However, Povetkin landed a vicious left uppercut in the fifth and knocked Whyte out.

2. Callum Smith: Hearn has several world champions on his roster. One of them was former super-middleweight champion, Callum Smith. The scouser made his return to the ring in what was his biggest fight yet. He took on P4P star Canelo Alvarez.

Despite his impressive resume, Smith was no match for the multi-weight world champion. Hearn built up the event to be a close contest. However, the Mexican dominated the Englishman and got the unanimous decision.

3. Luke Campbell: Another title contender signed with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing is Luke Campbell. The Olympic champion has been on the cusp of a world title for a while now. He took on talented lightweight superstar Ryan Garcia for the WBC interim title.

Campbell built up the event by engaging in a verbal battle with the American. And he started the fight on the front foot by knocking down Garcia.

However, he never pressed on from that, and eventually, the American superstar knocked him out with a vicious body shot.

4. Josh Warrington: The most recent fighter to disappoint Eddie Hearn was former featherweight champion, Josh Warrington. The ‘Leeds Warrior’ fought Mauricio Lara on February 13th. The fight was built-up around the potential of Warrington chasing the unification fights.

However, on the night, the Yorkshireman could not find his rhythm and allowed Lara to dominate the fight. As a result, he suffered his first defeat after the Mexican landed a powerful left-hook to knock him out.
