This fight was years in the making, and tonight at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, it all came to an end. The fighting pride of Omaha, Nebraska, Terence Crawford, is the new undisputed super middleweight champion. He defeated Canelo Alvarez via unanimous decision, officially becoming the first male boxer to achieve undisputed status in three different weight classes in the four-belt era.

Just as Terence Crawford’s trainer, Brian ‘Bomac’ MacIntyre, predicted, he dominated the fight. Judges scored the bout 116/112, 115/113, and 115/113 all in Crawford’s favor. And for good reason, as the 37-year-old controlled the momentum from start to finish, outboxing Canelo Alvarez while standing his ground, proving the weight advantage Canelo held meant nothing. Yet, even after his win, he remained humble.

“Canelo is a great champion,” Crawford said during the in-ring interview. “I’ve got to take my hat off to him. He’s a strong competitor. Like I said before, I’ve got nothing but respect for Canelo. I’m a big fan of Canelo, and he fought like a champion today.” When asked about his future in the sport, Crawford shied away from giving a straightforward answer.

“I don’t know,” he said. “I’ve got to sit down with my team and talk about it. I’d just like to say thank you to all the supporters, thank you to all the haters. I appreciate all of y’all.” Afterward, Crawford hopped on X to write, “For all the nobodies.” And he wasn’t alone; the likes of Logan Paul and Oscar-nominated actress Rosie Perez joined the conversation.

Soon, reactions from across the boxing world and beyond poured in on X.

Cheers of Crawford all around

Heavy hitters from across the boxing world flooded social media with reactions. Logan Paul boldly tweeted, “Jake Paul beats Canelo,” referencing the long-debated but failed negotiations between Canelo Alvarez and his brother Jake Paul. Meanwhile, Canelo’s estranged promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, took aim at the matchmaking, posting, “Please fire your matchmakers. @Turki_alalshikh.”
