Mahmoud Charr Announces Interesting News Regarding Andy Ruiz Jr.

WBA Regular title holder Mahmoud Charr is in talks to face off against Andy Ruiz Jr. in his return. Charr last competed back in November 2017, where he clinched the WBA belt against Alexander Ustinov in Germany. The fight ended in a unanimous decision victory in Charr’s favor and eventually led to his long hiatus.

‘Diamond Boy’ has been firing shots towards Tyson Fury and Ruiz Jr, however, it seems as though he settled on the latter. He took to Instagram and shared a promotional poster that has the combat sports community excited. Charr’s promoters appear to be eager to set the fight in motion and build up the 31-4 fighters return to action.

Mahmoud Charr: “Fight me”

The Germany-based Syrian spoke to Sky Sports via Bad Left Hook and laid out his views on the possible fight. With new management backing the veteran, he remains hopeful that the fight will materialize.

“I hope it’s serious because I talk to my promoter Erol Ceylan, and his partner is Al Haymon [Ruiz Jr’s advisor]. He works very close to Al Haymon.”

He went on the share his thoughts on the ongoing negotiations that were being overseen by his newly signed promoter. Not to mention, he appears to be gunning for the high profile match-up with great tenacity. Andy Ruiz is a game former champion, hungry to reclaim his status at the top.

“Erol Ceylan is right now in Turkey. He will fly next week to the USA to talk personally to these people, and I hope he can make this fight happen.

“If any opponent gives you a chance for the world title fight, you say no or do you say yes? Make this fight happen, I’m ready for you. If you want, do this fight. I will risk my belt. I don’t need an easy fight. Fight me.”

Ruiz Jr. is has been out of action since his devastating defeat at the hands of Anthony Joshua in their rematch. Although a fight with Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz was in the works, it appears to have fallen off midway. Mahmoud Charr is sure to bring in an exciting narrative going against the heavy-handed Mexican.
