Over a month away from the fight, Shakur Stevenson and Jamel Herring are already grabbing attention for the heated build-up to their nearing title collision. WBO super featherweight champion, Herring, will put his strap on the line against Stevenson on October 23 in a 12-round headliner.

Although Herring has three successful title defenses under his name, a scrap against Stevenson might be different from all his past bouts. Justifying his nickname to the fullest, ‘Fearless’ Shakur Stevenson is 16-0 as a boxer and is one of the biggest names of his division.

Hence, he doesn’t seem bothered about Herring’s championship status. Instead, the 24-year-old appeared light-hearted in the latest press conference. While Jamel Herring seemed focused, Stevenson constantly mocked him verbally.

‘Fearless’ even said, “Make sure you bring my belt [with you] everywhere you go.”

Thus, Shakur Stevenson is absolutely confident about becoming a world champion in his next fight. But it will be extremely demanding. Herring is one of the hardest punchers on the roster and has been flawless for the past several years. Stevenson will clearly bring in his A-listed features. But that in no way will be very surprising for Jamel Herring.

Besides, both men have had their latest appearances a few months back. Jamel Herring defended his belt against Carl Frampton via TKO in April, a career-defining fight for him. Meanwhile, Stevenson advanced himself to 16-0 by beating Jeremiah Nakathila in June via a unanimous decision. Thus, it’s the perfect time to stage them opposite each other.
