Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor seem to not be on Manny Pacquiao’s priority list at the moment. His former promoter, Bob Arum has revealed the name, Pacquiao remains keen on taking on right now.

Late last year, at the RIZIN 45 event, the Filipino fame made his plans apparent about a potential rematch with his former opponent, Mayweather. Later, in another revelation, his agent suggested that as the fighter hopes to make a comeback to the ring, Conor McGregor remains a name that he is strongly considering. These two potential matchups have the potential to create significant buzz in the boxing community, given the history between the fighters. However, the name that has now emerged from his camp for a potential opponent could raise some eyebrows.

92-year-old Arum, the founder and face of Top Rank, spilled the beans on whom Pacquiao is considering for his big comeback to the ring. Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, the promoter noted, “Taylor can possibly get involved in a really bigger fight with Manny Pacquiao who’s talking about coming back, and mentioned Taylor is one of the opponents he’d like to fight.” While confirming that these were not just conjecture but actually suggestions by the fighter himself, Arum remarked, “That’s what Manny told me.”

The Scottish-Southpaw, Taylor holds a 19-1 record, and last fought Teofimo Lopez in June 2023, registering his career’s first dent on points. At the moment, the 33-year-old fighter hopes to undertake 3 fights this year, mostly at 140, but he remains comfortable pushing the boundaries up to 147 lbs.

Facing ‘The Tartan Tornado’ could be a significant opportunity for the retired boxer. Rather than taking on two opponents widely accepted from the same league and era, he could challenge a much younger, fresher, and more active talent, showcasing his prowess in the ring. However, within this context, the reality persists that the Mayweather and McGregor fights could evoke nostalgia, a sentiment that boxing always appreciates.

What about Conor McGregor?

Earlier, Paradigm, a talent management company that held the rights to book fights for Pacquiao sued the 45-year-old for breaching their contracts. The same company also represents McGregor. In a voice message, he called on PacMan. He exclaimed to Manny in the message, “I’ll kick you in the head, in the neck, the inside leg, and take you off your feet and drag you by your ankle across the stage.”
