Bill Haney had some harsh words for Ryan Garcia. It was rumored that’ King Ry’ would face his son, Devin Haney, in March of this year. The same was hinted at by Oscar De La Hoya too. The boxing world was ecstatic, and rightfully so. Both fighters are young and share a history. A few years ago, the two boxers faced one another in the amateur ring. This time around, Haney is the champion, but Garcia, in his own right, can pose challenges. The high expectations for a fight between the two might just be crashing down.

Bill Haney, the father of the WBC super-lightweight champion, expresses disappointment with Garcia’s apparent change of heart regarding the potential Devin Haney fight. As indications suggest the bout may not materialize. So what did Bill Haney have to say about this unexpected development?

Bill Haney was present ringside for the recent Vergil Ortiz fight. Post the event, while speaking to FightHub.TV, Haney asserted that he once held Ryan Garcia in high regard but has since changed his opinion of him. Expressing his disappointment, he stated, “We don’t know what gon happen. He raised his hand. I thought I had respect for him. Maybe he is not what people say – La Raza. Does he represent La Raza or not? That person does not represent La Raza.” ‘La Raza’ is a Spanish term that is often used to refer to the Hispanic or Latino community, emphasizing cultural pride, heritage, and solidarity among people of Latin American descent.

While in the conversation, Haney Sr. was then asked about how would he react if Garcia faced Rolly Romero instead. to which, he responded, “That is his choice, not to make the biggest and the best fight happen that the people want to see.”

It is safe to say that Haney is too not pleased with Garcia. This suggests that the fight is in jeopardy and may not happen as planned. However, it bears a mention that Garcia does not consider it to be his fault.

Who is to be blamed? Ryan Garcia or Devin Haney?

According to Garcia, he did not miss the shot of fighting Haney, but instead, the latter did. He did not think he was responsible for the fight falling apart and made it evident by stating, “Yeah, Devin lost his shot. He thought it was Haney-Garcia. He should’ve known it was Garcia-Haney.” He further added that he might be facing Romero next, he added, “Rolly just rolls into sh*t.”
