The lightweight division of boxing has some extremely talented prodigies in Gervonta Davis, Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney, and Ryan Garcia. Often a matchup between all of these fighters is teased. However, nothing really materialized and a fight between none of them was ever finalized.

However, recently, the Top Rank boss, Bob Arum, took a step and asserted on booking Lopez vs Davis’ clash.

Speaking to Seckbach, he said, “We have a track record working with PBC, so if Floyd and Tank want that fight, I think we can get it. Tank’s shown the ability to draw, Teofimo is Teofimo, that’d be a major fight.”

This statement did rounds on social media, thus captivating many fans and fighters to comment on this matchup. The WBO super-featherweight champ, Shakur Stevenson gave a staggering take on this fight.

Taking it to his Twitter, he wrote, “Tank by Murder”

Lopez sits at the most beautiful spot in the lightweight roster with the WBO, WBA, and IBF lightweight titles. He won these straps by defeating the lightweight star, Vasyl Lomachenko, a year ago. However, since this fight, Lopez hasn’t competed or defended any of his titles.

Although he’s aligned for his title defense fight for November 27, his inactivity has stagnated the lightweight roster.

Had Lopez been active with his fight stint, fans could have possibly witnessed his thrilling clash with ‘Tank’ or other stalwarts of the division. Regardless of that, a fight between Davis and Lopez might still come to fruition if both the teams agree for a fight.

Also, time by time, the pair have taken wild verbal digs at each other. Hence, it’s safe to say that a fight will settle the prolonged rift between the two.

It’ll be intriguing to see if Bob Arum really gets serious about staging this fight for Lopez, and interacts with Davis’ team for the same.
