The concluding months of 2021 weren’t that decorative for Rolando Romero. The 26-year-old is one of the most promising young guns of recent times, and fans have a lot of expectations from him. However, he ended up in some controversies by year-end, because of which he also withdrew from his fight against Gervonta Davis.
Many fans were left startled as they wished to see the two stalwarts collide. But Romero did something of late, which turned out to be even more appalling for his fans.
Recently, Romero talked about his name change, and he gave the reason behind why he did so.

He said, “My name’s not Rolly no more, okay? We’re long past, that not Rolly is forever anymore. It’s the boxer formerly known as Rolly is forever.”
“Okay, I just, we’re onto bigger things, you know. I don’t want to be associated with name Rolly anymore. I cannot be associated with that name anymore. So it’s the boxer formerly known as Rolly. You have to say the full thing. You just have to say the full thing you know.”
Romero’s fans rightly used to address him as ‘Rolly’. However, in his above statement, the Nevada native cleared why he didn’t wish to be called by that name.
On top of that, he came up with what he wished to be addressed ahead. Floyd Mayweather‘s protege, with a slight change in his name, will look to bring in something new to his ongoing boxing stint as well. That said, fans will keep their fingers crossed to see the ‘new’ Rolando Romero.
