Professional Boxing is not only famous for the rivalry between boxers, but it also involves the promoters of the fighters. The recent exchange between the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellerbe, and the Matchroom Boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn, is the best example.
Imagine being appointed as the CEO of a new boxing entity, having a BILLION dollar budget to secure talent, you blow through it because you misgauged the US market with nothing to show for it, meanwhile self-proclaiming yourself as a global icon and the best promoter in the biz🤦🏽♂️ https://t.co/UdCjgHShqw

The duo is seemingly involved in a verbal beef with each other over the supremacy of being the best promoter.
In the process, Ellerbe took to Twitter and wrote, “Imagine being appointed as the CEO of a new boxing entity, having a BILLION dollar budget to secure talent, you blow through it because you misgauged the US market with nothing to show for it, meanwhile self-proclaiming yourself as a global icon and the best promoter in the biz.”
This tweet was retaliation from Ellerbe’s end against the Matchroom boss.
What happened between Ellerbe and Eddie Hearn?
A few days back, Ellerbe had made a cutting remark on Eddie Hearn’s business model. According to him, Hearn has proved himself as a complete failure in the USA as the latter could not produce a single star under his promotion.
He mentioned it while discussing Hearn’s previous fighter, Devin Haney.
Ellerbe said, “Excellent fighter. He signed with a promoter who don’t know what the f**k he’s doing, he’s f***ed off over a billion dollars and still hasn’t built one f***in’ star in the United States.”
This did not go well with Hearn. He reflected on it, calling Ellerbe as ‘irrelevant in boxing’.

Hearn said, “If I don’t know what I’m doing, why am I 100 times bigger than Leonard Ellerbe?”
Furthermore, Eddie Hearn claimed that they are the biggest global promotional company in the world. Trolling Ellerbe, he added, “And Leonard Ellerbe is not even relevant actually in the boxing industry.”
In the end, Hearn billed Ellerbe as hilarious. His reply provoked Ellerbe again, and the latter took to Twitter to respond to him.
