Oscar De La Hoya has had a tumultuous relationship with his former star fighter, Canelo Alvarez! The Mexican Superstar filed a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions back in September 2020 for breach of contract. He alleged that De La Hoya had promised their streaming partner, DAZN, things that Canelo’s contract with De La Hoya doesn’t include. So, the duo has been at each other’s throats ever since.

Meanwhile, as the Canelo vs. Jaime Munguia fight came along, being Munguia’s promoter, Oscar was present on stage during the recent presser to support his fighter. However, this seems to have upset ‘Cinnamon,’ something Marcos Villegas from Fight Hub TV highlighted in an interview today with Leonard Ellerbe. So, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions took a dig at ‘Golden Boy’ while revealing why Canelo hates his former promoter.

Responding to Villegas, Ellerbe asked what reason does Canelo have to like his estranged promoter. “Why would he like him? He is a great fighter, but he is a horrible, horrible person,” said Ellerbe. When further poked about why he has such an image of the head of Golden Boy Promotions, Ellerbe didn’t hold back his own disdain.

“History will tell you everything you need to know about him. Everything is I I I, me me me, look what I did, look what I did. You ain’t [done] s**t,” said Ellerbe. It’s worth mentioning that even Ellerbe’s business partner, Floyd Mayweather, fought Oscar De La Hoya back in the day. So, he should have a good idea of Oscar’s history. Meanwhile, ‘Golden Boy’ has revealed what would have happened if Canelo fought him.

Oscar De La Hoya claims it would have been a walk in the park

During Tuesday’s press conference for the Canelo Alvarez vs. Jaime Munguia fight, Oscar De La Hoya passionately made a case for Munguia against Canelo. However, ‘Cinnamon’ refused to acknowledge the fact that De La Hoya was on the same stage. After the presses, the retired boxer claimed if he and Canelo were to throw down in his prime, it would be a cakewalk for him.

“Easy, hands down [I’d win]. Oh, easy. Nobody can stop this jab,” Oscar told reporters. “In my prime? Oh, my footwork was impeccable when you have heavy legs and heavy feet, and you’re walking on quicksand,” Oscar added. He also claimed if Floyd Mayweather Sr. was by his side like in the old days, “It probably would be a walk in the park.”
