The 2-weight world champion Gervonta Davis is one of boxing’s brightest young champions in the sport. The superstar fighter has never hidden from a challenge and has shown this once again after accepting his upcoming bout. However, his promoter, Leonard Ellerbe, has made a surprising claim about the impending fight.

Davis will return to the ring after almost 7 months and move up two weight classes to face champion Mario Barrios. This is a massive step-up for the American. However, it showed the elite attitude of the undefeated American.

With all the hype surrounding the fight, his promoter, Ellerbe, has dropped a huge bombshell. He spoke to FightHype.com and said, “I think the fight ends in a knockout. [for Gervonta Davis] Most definitely. It’s just a dangerous fight.

“And again, I’m just being honest, this is not a fight I picked. This is not a fight that I picked.”
Thus, this comment confirmed that the Barrios fight was one that ‘Tank’ wanted. Davis comes under criticism for not fighting the best in his division. However, facing a bigger opponent in Barrios proves he is willing to challenge himself to cement his place as one of the best.

The comments from Ellerbe will surprise fans since, generally, it’s the other way around. A fighter wants to make a fight, but the teams cannot agree.
