Known as the ‘Hitman,’ Charlo took to Twitter to tease his return to the boxing ring by sharing pictures with Golden Boy Promoter Oscar De La Hoya. He further wrote a message for the promoter hinting that he would return to the boxing ring soon.

He wrote, “Make the fight happen!!! @oscardelahoya thanks!!” It is unclear if Charlo is hinting toward any particular opponent with his Instagram post. The Mexican commented on the Instagram post. He wrote, “Here I am! See you in September, this time for real, you’ve been out of the ring for two years and counting.” It seems like the undefeated 26-year-old is eyeing to get a chance at Charlo’s title. Notably, no fight confirmation can be assured between these two boxers as the current WBC interim champion Carlos Adames is also in the line for a shot at Charlo’s title. Whoever is the next opponent, the fans will be excited to see Charlo return to the ring.

Why was Charlo not stripped due to his inactivity?

The ‘Future of Boxing’ last fought in 2021, winning his fight against Juan Macias Montiel via unanimous decision. He hasn’t stepped inside the boxing ring since then. He was scheduled to make a title defense against Maciej Sulecki in June 2021 but withdrew after suffering a back injury in training.
