Michael Hunter Links Up With UFC Champion Kamaru Usman in Preparation for Next Fight

Heavyweight contender Michael Hunter has linked up with a surprise guest during training. The former cruiserweight challenger caught up with current UFC champion and superstar Kamaru Usman ahead of their next fights.

Hunter is one of the many challengers in the heavyweight division, on the cusp of challenging for a world title. However, he seems to be adding world championship experience to his camp with his link-up with the ‘Nightmare’

Hunter posted a picture on his Instagram, posing with Usman in the gym. ‘The Bounty’ captioned the picture, “Hunting Season,” thus hinting at the mindset of both fighters. Moreover, it showed the type of fighters Hunter is surrounding himself with as he pushes towards a world title shot.

Hunter moved up to the heavyweight division after his loss to Oleksandr Usyk. Since then, he has gone undefeated in eight fights, with seven wins and a solitary draw against the difficult challenge of Alexander Povetkin. As a result, he ranks #8 on The Ring Magazine rankings while also coming in the top 10 of three of the four sanctioning bodies.

Who is Michael Hunter training for?

The former cruiserweight challenger may be training to push for the title. However, at 32-years-old, time is not on his side. So who will Michael Hunter take on in his next fight?

The American is fresh off a victory over Shawn Laughery. He made light work of the fight knocking out his opponent in the fourth round in December. However, there is no update on his next fight.

Since Hunter fought in December, it will be a few months before he returns to the ring. However, if he is serious about mounting a title challenge, the American needs a top-ranked opponent. And given the excitement in the division, there are a plethora of options for him.

Regardless of his opponent, it will be intriguing to see what he has learned from training with Kamaru Usman. Will he be able to replicate the MMA star’s success in the heavyweight division?
