Tyson shared an interesting story on how Cus D’Amato guarded him against foreign interaction, which Tyson saw as fear of seeing him shift to other people.

In a chat on his HotBoxin podcast, Mike Tyson once told, “You know how crazy Cus was?”

“You know you talking to somebody. I don’t know. Somebody’s else’s coaches, says, that’s a great fight you had. Cus would go over and say, ‘excuse me, sir, do you know this kid? Why you talking to him?’”

“He thinks everybody’s gonna steal me from him.”
