Teofimo Lopez, the unified lightweight world champion, is at the peak of his career. He is garnering attention from every corner of the world. The 23-year-old just beat one of the greatest punchers in the sport in Vasyl Lomachenko and is now being billed as the best in his division.

That said, Lopez still has several A-listers to clash against. The current lightweight division is one of the most stacked units with numerous undefeated world champions in the mix. Unless they face each other, it would be unfair to bill someone as the greatest of them all.

Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight champion, has all his love for Teofimo Lopez. Meanwhile, he also advises the ‘Takeover’ to remain active and encounter all the adversaries, including the other champions like Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis.

While Tyson has his own boxing return against Roy Jones Jr. on November 28, he is still taking out some time to advise the top-gunners of the active roster.

Mike Tyson has much to see from the world champion Teofimo Lopez

‘Iron’ Mike connected with ESPN to shed light on several ongoing scenarios of the boxing community. Talking about the current lightweight champions, Tyson has hailed Teofimo Lopez for his recent performance against Lomachenko. He said, “Spectacular. Tyson believes that it’s unfair to see two elites accept a fight after their prime. Thus, he wants Lopez to take out the divisional heads at this heated point.

‘Iron’ Mike said, “I think differently than these guys — these guys think, ‘Hey, I want to fight this guy and then I’ll fight the other guy two years later”

He added, “So, if I’m Lopez right now, right, I’ve got Loma.  I beat him. So, now I want to get Gervonta Davis. I want Davis, and I want Shakur [Stevenson], and I want to fight those guys in one year. I want to fight both those guys this year instead of fighting one guy, then three years later, fight [another] guy if he’s still champion. You’ve got to fight the guys that you know will be hot now.”

The ongoing lightweight title ride demands a lot from their current champions. Thus, they need to remain active to sustain the hype. The current chart validates a fight between Lopez against all the champions, including Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia too.
