Mike Tyson was mistreated throughout his childhood as a result of the unfavorable neighborhood he was raised in. However, he discovered his calling to become a professional boxer and used his inner demons to become a legend in the sport. He frequently talks about the fighters who inspired him as a young man. One man, nevertheless, stands out as a big inspiration for him despite being mentioned very few times by Tyson.

Mike Tyson has a great deal of admiration for legendary boxer Muhammad Ali. He views Ali as the most complete and perfect boxer the world has ever seen. Although he has a deep respect for Ali, he has never been able to resonate with him. He connected more with legendary boxers like Roberto Duran and Sonny Liston because they shared a similar upbringing as Tyson.

But once he mentioned one more name, who is one of the biggest heroes of his life. While talking about his hero, Tyson stated, “This is Harry Greb. He’s not afraid of anybody. He’ll fight anybody, black, white, big, small. During the days he fought, he passed in 1926. I never heard him say, besides saying like you call me. He talks about Irish, because he was born Irish, but I never heard him say a racial word to anybody. I never heard him say a derogatory word. But he was a mean guy, he fight anybody, so he is one of my biggest heroes.”

Edward Henry Greb is among the most celebrated boxers of all time. He was famously referred to as ‘The Pittsburgh Windmill’. Greb was among the best pound-for-pound boxers of his era, and during the course of his remarkable career, he held the titles of world middleweight and light heavyweight champion.
