Boxer once shuddered at the thought of fighting the former world heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson, in his prime. Meanwhile, Tyson revealed to Canelo Alvarez that fear is an essential driving force for a fighter.

Mike Tyson was in attendance at the T-Mobile Arena for the showdown between Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol. Notably, he made the tweet after Alvarez’s devastating loss against Bivol.

Talking about fear in the ring, Tyson said, “Whenever you go in a ring and you’re not scared, it’s time to give it up.”

He was laying emphasis on the fact that a boxer will not feel challenged unless they are scared every time they step in the ring.

In the same vein, Tyson had previously shown his support to Alvarez in his bout against Caleb Plant in 2021. The champ has always been a strong supporter of Alvarez.

Alvarez’s admiration for Tyson

Canelo Alvarez has always had a strong admiration for the champ. In fact, during the weigh-in event of his fight against Plant, Alvarez had shared his views on Tyson.

Tyson was at his weigh-in. And it was also revealed to Alvarez that Tyson would be in attendance for his fight.

Alvarez then showed his respect for the champ and also shared his wish to have a career as successful as Tyson’s. He said, ” I wanna be like him one day.”

The statement stands as a true testament to how Tyson has impacted many upcoming boxers. And, how he is idolized by many for being one of the living legends in the sport.
