Former World Heavyweight Champion Mike Tyson has transitioned from a wild young boxer to the thoughtful and caring man he is today. Moreover, Tyson also has an arsenal of intriguing stories from his eventful past. He once spoke to comedian Kevin Hart about his life in prison.

Tyson was sentenced to six years in prison in 1992. However, the sentence was later reduced to three years.

Meanwhile, he was talking to Hart on an episode of ‘Hart to Heart‘. In conversation, Tyson was asked by Hart if he was still a voracious reader. Tyson answered in the negative stating that has been too preoccupied to do the same. He said, “Children, destination, traveled all over. You know when I’m in one place, that’s why I was so unpolitic in prison and my stuff.”

In fact, Tyson opened up about being an insatiable reader while in prison, saying, “That’s all we did all day, all day, two books a day, three books a day. It’s like boom.”

He even went on to give a valuable life lesson. Tyson mentioned, “And, just like some people, we have to know some books to stay away from.”

Moreover, he also compared books to friends, saying, “Your friends are your books. Your books are your friends.”

Additionally, talking about his experiences, Tyson mentioned that ‘ignorance is bliss’. And, that it is never wrong to be ignorant.

Mike Tyson opens up about the interview with his ex-wife

One of the most memorable yet infamous interviews with Mike Tyson was the Barbara Walters interview in 1988. Tyson’s then-wife Robin Givens, was also present at the interview.

Moreover, the interview also saw Givens accusing Tyson of being intimidating and also mentioned that he had a hard time controlling his temper.

Tyson was recently a guest on the Pivot Podcast. In conversation, one of the guests asked him about the infamous interview. Tyson responded by hilariously mentioning that it will inappropriate for the group to talk about Walters’ interview on television.
