Something that makes this bout even more alluring is the rift shared by Canelo and Plant. The pair engaged in a brawl at their very first press conference, a few months back. That began their feud, which has only intensified since then. ‘Sweethands’ has constantly taken shots at Alvarez over his failed drug test in 2018.
At the weigh-ins, Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant exchanged some more heated words, and Mike Tyson was lucky enough to hear this exchange in person. Post the weigh-ins, ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’ let the world get a gist of what was said.

This fight was on the cards ever since Alvarez beat ‘Superb’ Billy Joe Saunders. Subsequently, both the teams reached an agreement to pit the two champions against each other to crown one single champion, i.e. the first undisputed super-middleweight champion in boxing history.
