Mike Tyson Reveals Why He Chose Fabricio Werdum’s Coach for His Boxing Return Against Roy Jones Jr.

Ending a hiatus of 15 years in professional boxing, Mike Tyson will return to the ring on November 28 against a seasoned Roy Jones Jr. for an eight-round exhibition fight.

The return of the former world champions has already created a lot of buzz in the sports community, with various people picking their favorites from the matchup. Although both the boxers have their equal chances of winning the fight, Tyson still has some advantages for his bigger physical shape.

Since he is a natural-born heavyweight, Mike Tyson wouldn’t mind gunning the action primarily against Roy Jones Jr. That said, his recent training videos have already sent the fight fans into a frenzy. Training with Rafael Cordeiro, Tyson has reshaped his career and appears to be in great physical condition.

Tyson could have picked up a boxing coach for his return. However, he chose MMA mastermind Rafael Cordeiro and has some valid reasons to justify the move. No doubt Cordeiro is an elite coach, and he had a tremendous training camp with Tyson.

In the recent press conference of his upcoming fight, Tyson talked about his relationship with his new coach.

When ESPN journalist Ariel Helwani inquired Tyson about choosing an MMA coach, he replied, “We chose one of my head coach- Billy White, but he (Rafael Cordeiro) is a great trainer, and I am so happy to have him in my corner. The energy that he posses is such a warming idea to have him.”

Praising Cordeiro, ‘Iron’ Mike further added, “He is a great man. I love him. I have a great team like family members, energy, it’s just family energy. We are ready to go to war.”

The 8-round battle will have each round hosted for 2 minutes. Thus, Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. will clash against each other for 16 minutes in total. No matter who takes the win, fight fans will witness history when the former champions will lock horns against each other in California.
