2021 was perhaps a decorated year for the p4p boxing king, Canelo Alvarez. Grabbing a total of 3 wins, Canelo ended up becoming the undisputed super-middleweight champion. Furthermore, he was the first man in history to bag all the 168-pound titles on the line. With that, he received immense applause from boxing pundits and icons around the world.

But a boxing legend in Mike Tyson wants Canelo Alvarez to test himself in deep waters.

Tyson was recently in a chat with Shannon Sharpe. Here, he revealed which fighter should Canelo face and why it’ll be a shame for boxing if this fight doesn’t happen.

He said, ‘‘It’s some new guys out there that, the young man David Benavidez, I call him the monster. He’s tough. I would love to see Canelo fight him.”

“God willing man, if it doesn’t happen, it’ll be a, it’ll just be a shame to boxing”

Canelo Alvarez beat Caleb Plant in his last outing. Since then, he has trended on the internet for scaling up in weight class. But nothing concrete appeared in the news pertaining to his next set opponent or more. Meanwhile, David Benavidez seemed assertive about facing Canelo.

Not just that, but Benavidez has remained open about confronting Canelo for a long time.

Moreover, this is the fight many wish to see because both of them are super-aggressors, and they match up extremely well against each other.

Will Canelo Alvarez fight David Benavidez this year?

Canelo Alvarez recently rejected a two-fight deal from Al-Haymon’s PBC. Had Alvarez inked this deal, he would have been on the line to face Jermall Charlo and David Benavidez.
